Cailyn Tripp’s Day Off

Here is my video essay on Ferris Bueller’s Day Off! I used iMovie to pick apart all of the editing/camera decisions. I love editing videos in general and I’ve always been one to “read” movies. So when it came to this assignment, I was excited to get to pick apart one of my favorite movies–Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

This assignment really showed me all of the thought process that went into this movie. I think the part that impacts the viewers the most is the camera placement. It makes it seem like the viewers are actually making eye contact with Ferris. The editing of the clips in order to show movement throughout the house also adds to the storyline of him going throughout his morning routine. Overall, this is a good scene acting wise; however, the editing (at the most basic level with coloring and music and at the upper levels of camera placement and cuts) really sells it.
