My Mix for Week Six

This week was definitely a busy one! I feel like everyday I was being tested to be more creative than the last, to come up with something better each time.

I started off my week by reflecting on my experience with design. I think I realized that I’ve always loved it, I just didn’t know that it was design I loved. That sounds stupid, but it’s true. I always put a lot of thought into whatever I’m creating, and I think this week made me realize it’s more than just perfectionism, it’s principles of design.

Throughout the week, I did three Daily Creates. This week has 100% been my favorite week of Daily Creates so far!

March 1st – Creating my own iceberg.
March 2nd – 24/7
March 3 – Outside my window GIF.

I also participated in a Design Blitz! I think what I liked most about it was it forced me to focus on why the things were designed the way they were. It’s easy to look at something and think, “Yes, this is pleasing to look at.” The Design Blitz made me realize why the things were so pleasing to look at.

Then, I got to designing on my own.

I started off by putting my friend Nathan on a Reese’s Puffs box.

This was probably my favorite part of this week, and in the post I explain how he has influenced my life–my story. I am extremely proud to be Nathan’s friend, and I’m glad I got to show my appreciation to him with this assignment.

I also came to the conclusion this week that I’m marrying Tom Holland.

I LOVED making this invitation! I think it is so cute and I love the color scheme I decided to run with!

Then, I used my design skills to help manifest my future by making a business card for my future self.

I loved that this assignment let me tell what I want my next chapter to look like. Although I’m not entirely sure what I want it to look like, I know I want it to be a creative one. I know I want to be creating for the rest of my life.

And finally, my future self wrote to my current self via post card about how the next chapter in my story turned out.

I’m a big believer in visualization. It sounds cheesy, but I think if you truly believe in yourself, and are willing to put in the work, you can accomplish whatever you want in life. This part of my story hasn’t occurred yet, but I know I want what I’ve written to play out in some aspect.

Overall, this week really allowed me to manifest the future of my story. I struggled a little with learning to use Canva in order to help me produce all of my assignments, but I enjoyed the process nonetheless.

I loved getting to see what my classmates were producing all week as well!
